The Maryland Food Bank is a non-profit organization leading the movement to end hunger in Maryland. They supply food to hundreds of local food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other organizations that serve food-insecure Marylanders. Our team spent the day at their Baltimore location where we worked in the kitchen, preparing meals for those in need, and in the warehouse, sorting through donations to ensure they were properly organized and ready for distribution.
In the kitchen, we worked together to package individual food items and assemble meals that would be distributed to a total of 1,692 food insecure children in Maryland. While working alongside the staff, we also had the opportunity to learn about the food bank’s operations and the incredible impact it has on the community.
In the warehouse, team members sorted through donations of food, toiletries, and other essential items, to ensure that they were ready for distribution. This involved checking expiration dates, organizing items by category, and preparing them for shipment to the Maryland Food Bank’s extensive network of community and organizational partners.
It was wonderful to come together as a team outside of the office and support the Maryland Food Bank in their incredible mission to end food insecurity in our community!
